Expert in wafer process technology, wafer level test and packaging named Vice President, New Product Development

LIVERMORE, Calif. – December 16, 2002 – FormFactor, the world’s leading provider of advanced wafer probe cards, today announced the appointment of Dr. Barbara Vasquez as vice president, new product development. A well-known expert in wafer process technology and wafer level test and packaging, Dr. Vasquez brings to FormFactor 18 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing and research and development.

Dr. Vasquez joins FormFactor from her previous position as senior director of integrated assembly and test at Infineon Technologies in Munich, Germany, where she built a program to develop and implement wafer level package, wafer level test and wafer level burn-in for memory products. Previously, she served as vice president, technology and product engineering in the ProMos startup in Taiwan, a joint venture DRAM fab between Infineon and Mosel Vitelic. Dr. Vasquez is the named inventor on more than 25 issued patents.

“Barbara shares our vision of closely integrating front-end wafer processing and back- end testing, eventually moving all test and packaging onto the wafer, and she has the right combination of leadership, abilities and insights to help drive our success,” said Dr. Igor Khandros, FormFactor’s President and CEO. “Her distinguished research and development background and her experience in turning ideas into innovative products make her the right person to lead our new product development team, as we work with the industry to tackle and solve the challenges we jointly face.”

“FormFactor’s probe cards and contactors enable both evolutionary improvements in wafer test efficiency and capability as well as more the more revolutionary transition to full wafer level backend,” said Dr. Vasquez. “I look forward to building on my previous experience in semiconductor IDMs and in shifting my focus to developing the enabling interconnect and contact solutions for application by our semiconductor manufacturer customers. I have always been impressed with the quality of FormFactor’s people and products and am extremely pleased to be part of this visionary team.”

Prior to Infineon, Dr. Vasquez worked in several capacities in both manufacturing and R&D at Motorola Semiconductor. She was responsible for building a program for known-good- die technology development, including wafer level burn-in, as well as 300mm equipment and factory development. She also held a number of positions at Motorola in wafer process manufacturing and advanced bipolar and BiCMOS device development. Before joining the semiconductor industry, Dr. Vasquez had a distinguished career as a biomedical researcher at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Vasquez holds a PhD (Chemistry) from Arizona State University and a BS (Chemistry) from the University of Arizona.
