Company shows growth and market share gains in both the advanced probe card and MEMS probe card sectors

FormFactor, Inc. (NASDAQ: FORM) today announced that VLSIresearch’s annual Survey* has again reported the company led all semiconductor probe card suppliers in 2014. FormFactor’s revenue grew 16% year-over-year to $269 million, which outpaced overall probe card market growth of 10%. The VLSIresearch survey documents 2014 worldwide sales of semiconductor probe cards at slightly over $1.25 billion, with continued growth to almost $1.7 billion in 2019.

The company’s industry leadership was especially evident at the high end of the market, where it led the advanced probe card sector with sales of $257 million, nearly 25 percent higher than the sales of the second ranked supplier. FormFactor’s long-term investments in MEMS technology are enabling customers’ transitions to advanced packaging technologies like Copper Pillars and to higher testing parallelism for reduced cost. As a result, the company captured 35 percent of the fast-growing MEMS probe card market, with 2014 sales almost 50 percent higher than the sales of the second ranked supplier.

“FormFactor has retained its top supplier position by consistently delivering high-performance probe card solutions across the semiconductor market, from DRAM to SoC, with strong leadership in the advanced portions of the probe card market.” said Risto Puhakka, President of VLSIresearch.

“We’re very proud to top the VLSIresearch list again this year,” said FormFactor President and CEO Mike Slessor. “This distinction is a tribute to the efforts of our team and our commitment to deliver probe card technologies that help our customers advance their roadmaps and compete in their end markets. Our continuing R&D investments, paired with our collaborative customer engagement model and relentless focus on execution, have us excited about our continued growth and leadership as we meet the challenges of testing the complex devices at the center of the mobile revolution.”
